The MSBO Leadership Institute is a year-long program that is rigorous and challenging.

As a participant of the MSBO Leadership Institute, you will be engaged in reflective dialogue and establish realistic and clear professional goals that will work in your unique circumstances.

Take Leadership Style Assessments & the first of five one-on-one coaching sessions.
Small group project sessions
This fulfills the Group Solutions requirement for CFO & BOM certification renewal

Five 2-day sessions to attend (Sessions begin at approximately 5 pm on the first night and run 8 am to 4:00 pm the following day.)
- Session 1: Wednesday and Thursday, September 23-24, 2026

- Session 2: Friday and Saturday, November 13-14, 2026
  Leadership and Mindset/Change • MSBO Office, Lansing
- Session 3: Friday and Saturday, January 15-16, 2027
  Leadership and Trust/Conflict • MSBO Office, Lansing
- Session 4: Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, 2027
  Leadership and Culture/Decision Making • MSBO Office, Lansing
- Session 5: Wednesday and Thursday, May 12-13, 2027
  Leadership and Innovation • Holiday Inn, Downtown Grand Rapids

Program Fees

$1,650 fee includes all course materials, refreshment breaks and meals. You will be responsible for overnight accommodations (if needed) and travel expenses.

Accepted applicants will be invoiced. SCECHs will be awarded pending approval.

Scholarship Criteria

Scholarships have been granted for the MSBO Leadership Institute for 2026-27. In addition to the Application Criteria above, district financial information will be used to assess the need. Your district must meet one or more of the criteria for scholarship consideration:

Early Warning District
High Percentage of Disadvantaged Students
Low Percentage of Fund Balance (last completed year)
Negative Enrollment Trends.
