It’s a cliché, but it’s true: time really does fly when you’re having fun. And as I prepare to transition from Immediate Past President to Past President of the MSBO Board of Directors this May, I can’t help but marvel at how quickly these years have passed.
When I first joined the board, I was filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. I knew I was stepping into a role that would challenge me, but I also knew I’d be surrounded by passionate individuals dedicated to the betterment of school business operations. What I didn’t fully grasp was just how rewarding and enjoyable the experience would be.
From the strategy sessions to the bustling conferences, every moment has been filled with purpose and camaraderie. We’ve tackled complex issues, celebrated hard-won victories, and forged friendships that will last a lifetime. The challenges we faced, the collaborative solutions we crafted, and the collective drive to support our members have made this journey incredibly fulfilling.
As I leave my role as MSBO Board of Directors, this will not be the last you hear from me. I plan to finish my career at Clarkston Community Schools and retire in December 2025, while continuing my work on mentoring.
In our Leadership Dimensions training, Bob Dwan asked me to describe in two words to the group my experience as MSBO Board of Directors.Those who know me understand what a challenge that would be for me. But I rose to the challenge and my two words were “Career Highlight.”
Thanks to all of you for trusting me in this role, for allowing me to be your 2024 President. I am honored and humbled. The current MSBO Board is ready to move forward and will do great things, especially with the backing of the amazing MSBO Staff.
