Michigan School Business Officials was founded in 1937 as a nonprofit corporation to serve the multifaceted interests of education. It is our intent to serve all of our members to the best of our ability, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, and to provide opportunities for our members to expand their professional horizons in the public education sector.

The Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) works to continually improve the leadership of, and management in, school business and operational services while enhancing the professional, social, and economic well-being of its members.

2026 MSBO Board of Directors Candidate Slate

The MSBO Nominations Committee nominated three candidates for two open Board of Director positions, each with a three-year term. There will also be one candidate for the open President-Elect position. Links of the Candidate Profiles are posted below. A “Meet the Candidates” video will be available later this month.

For President-Elect (1-year Term):

  • Brian Marcel, CFO, Associate Superintendent, Washtenaw ISD (Incumbent)

For Board of Directors (2 Open Board seats/3-year Term):

  • Fred Sharpsteen, CTO, Assistant Superintendent of Technology, Mecosta-Osceola ISD
  • Michelle Sine, CFO, Associate Superintendent of Business & Operations, Charlotte Public Schools (Incumbent)
  • Richard Webb, CTO, Director of Information Technology, Kenowa Hills Public Schools

The election will be held electronically and will begin on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and end on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
