The purpose of the Investing in MSBO Members Scholarship program is to provide opportunities for professional development to MSBO members currently employed in school business to improve their skills and competencies in school business management.
Introduction to School Business
- Six scholarships to attend the In-Person 2025 MSBO Introduction to School Business Conference – September 23-24, 2025 • Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, East Lansing, MI
The Introduction to School Business Conference provides an overview of school business operations with a focus on several key areas. It is also a great way for you to begin your certification program with MSBO.
MSBO Voluntary Certification Program
- Four Certification Track scholarships. A total of four Certification Track scholarships (one for each track) are randomly selected from applications submitted for each of the following certification track categories: Business Office, Pupil Accounting, Support Services and Other.
An MSBO member can only be awarded a scholarship for one certification track. Those members that have already started in a certification track are eligible for a scholarship. (This scholarship is not for certification renewal.) Scholarships do not include certification classes offered by other organizations. Expenses for travel, meals, or accommodations are not included in the scholarships.
ASBO International Conference & Expo
- Two scholarships for attendance to ASBO International’s Annual Conference & Expo in Fort Worth, Texas – October 21-23, 2025.
ASBO International’s Annual Conference & Expo brings together nearly 1,000 school business leaders worldwide for engaging professional development and educational sessions covering timely issues that impact school finance, countless networking opportunities, and the latest products and services in school business.
The scholarship covers all registration expenses including ASBO International membership (if warranted), transportation (including airfare, mileage, transfers, and parking), and hotels. It would not cover meals, or other personally incurred expenses. The drawing will be random from applications received.

Business Manager Academy
Business Manager Academy Scholarships
MSBO has partnered with skilled past and present business managers to share their knowledge and experience in school finance. The Academy is designed for those who want to gain in-depth, practical, “hands-on” working knowledge in school finance. Coupled with individual mentoring opportunities, the program will assist participants in their positions, and as part of an overall school district administrative team. The 2025-26 BMA begins August 2025 and runs through June 2026.
