Frequently Asked Questions

If you have less than six years of school experience:

  • Sign in to your My MSBO account and complete online enrollment by clicking the Certification tab and then on the Enroll button beside your chosen program. Further instructions on the certification process can be found on our certification enrollment page.

If you have over six years of school experience:

  • Complete the grandparenting application to determine if you can be grandparented. All certification tracks have an opportunity to grandparent except the Chief Financial Officer track.

Once you have enrolled in a program, on your My MSBO account page, click the Certification link in the blue navigation bar. There is a Print icon to the right of your certification track. This will display the required classes and number of hours needed to complete your program.  

On your My MSBO account page, click the Certification link in the blue navigation bar. Your status is listed next to your Program name. If your program has lapsed or been cancelled, and you wish to re-enroll, please contact Debbie Kopkau at dkopkau@msbo.org. 

Continuing education requirements for maintaining MSBO certification includes job-related education. This consists of structured professional development with a lead presenter whose purpose for the training is teaching a new skill. These structured professional development programs must be approved for Continuing Education Units (CEU), State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs), College or University credit, or recognized for Continuing Professional Education (CPE).  If the program does not meet these standards, prior approval will need to be obtained and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please send these requests to Debbie Kopkau at dkopkau@msbo.org to gain approval.

Classes you take from MSBO will automatically be added to your transcript and will go towards renewal hours. Simply complete post-event evaluations after your classes to verify your attendance and credit hours will then be issued. 

For classes you take from other associations or organizations, go to your My MSBO account page and click on PD Upload in the blue navigation bar. From there, you can upload supporting documentation (such as certificates of completion). If the classes fit the requirement, MSBO certification staff will review and approve the upload which will add hours to your transcript.
