Recognizing the extraordinary work of MSBO members is an honored tradition at MSBO’s Annual Conference. We will recognize the 2021 award recipients at this year’s virtual annual conference.
Distinguished Service Award
MSBO’s Distinguished Service Award was established in 1987 to pay special tribute to exemplary current or former members of MSBO. This award honors an individual who has put forth extraordinary effort, provided unique service, and has accomplishments that will serve as an inspiration and example for others to follow.

School Business Official of the Year
This award honors an individual whose recent accomplishments and contributions in school business have occurred during the past two years. As MSBO’s School Business Official of the Year, Mr. Sawyer will receive a professional development scholarship to attend ASBO International’s Annual Conference. His name will also be submitted to ASBO for their prestigious Eagle Award.

Friend of Education
This special award honors individuals who are not members of our MSBO and yet, have been dedicated to serving the best interests of education and students.

Meridian Award of Excellence
The Meridian Award of Excellence is a special recognition award acknowledging successful practices in all areas of school management and education. Selection is based on the degree to which the entry promotes and enhances the overall effective operation of a school district or MSBO.

President’s Award

Mark and Kay Stebbins Scholarship
The Michigan School Business Officials offers a $2,000 scholarship to Active members. This scholarship program encourages and recognizes individuals currently employed in school business who are improving their technical skills and competencies by furthering their education.

Wally Piper Scholarship
The Michigan School Business Officials offers a $3,000 scholarship to Active members. This scholarship program encourages and recognizes individuals currently employed in school business who are improving their technical skills and competencies by pursuing a graduate degree.
