Munetrix School Edition Recognized by MDE as Software System for Schools to Use as Early Warning Financial Stress Indicator

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) recently released a memo (Early Warning Indicators of Financial Stress) stating that, “it is charged with the responsibility of monitoring Michigan public schools to ensure compliance with various state and federal laws related to prudent financial management and reporting on the use of public funds.”

MDE is working with the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) to provide common financial health indicators to be included in the MiSchool Data portal. In their memo, MDE highlights Munetrix School Edition as a software vendor offering tools utilizing state datasets (data reported by districts to the state) that may help in monitoring the fiscal health of a school district. MDE also encourages district school boards and administrators to take a serious look at where their district measures on each of these indicators and to determine if the district is experiencing a negative trend on any of them.

More than a year ago, MSBO began to search the marketplace for a solution that would have the ability to use financial information submitted to the MDE to determine cost effective and best practice models. That's why MSBO, Michigan Association of School Administrator (MASA) and Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) have partnered with Munetrix. With transparency and best practices that include a citizens dashboard, the Munetrix School Edition is constantly being enhanced to keep up with reporting requirements. Check out the Munetrix website for detailed, school-specific information.
