Innovative Delivery of Non-Instructional Services Workshop
Collaboration • Consolidation • Contracting • Concessions

March 6, 2012 - 9:00 am-4:00 pm
Mt. Pleasant Comfort Inn & Suites Hotel and Conference Center

It’s hard not to consider the four “Cs” these days. Even though it sounds like a good idea, is it always beneficial? With many districts having implemented successful delivery options, the knowledge is out there and we’re pulling it together in a one-day workshop!

Learn from a variety of legal and labor experts, as well as your peers’ experiences in breakout sessions focused on business office, food and nutritional services, custodial/maintenance and transportation services in a collaborative, interactive setting.

Find out what analysis you’ll need to prepare for your district and how to communicate it to both internal staff and your community. You’ll walk away with a document that captures all of the breakout and group discussions and gives you direction as you assess your district’s operations.

Property Tax Basics- Webinar or On Site

Property Tax Basics - February 28, 2012 – 8:45 am-4:00 pm

Learn property tax basics, including a discussion of allowable millage rates, enabling laws, and how taxes are levied and collected. The workshop explains the various terms used in the levy process of school taxes. The presenter(s) explain how the annual county settlement process works & how it affects districts. This session’s target audience is new business managers, business office support staff managing tax receipts, and board members.

We added the Webinar component last year and had great success as the travel was bad due to a snow storm the night before, so we have decided to allow participants the option again this year.

We will still accommodate those that prefer to come “on site” but due to space limitations and a number of folks wanting to attend, the webinar was opened to allow for greater participation. Instead of driving down, you can be comfortable at your desk and participate at the same level! Please be sure to choose the function of either On Site at MSBO or Webinar. The registration fee is the same for either function.

The program will run from 8:45 am until 4:00 pm. There is a break scheduled around 10:15 am. Lunch will be from 12:00-12:45 pm and then an afternoon break around 1:45 pm.

Materials will be provided on site. For those who decide to join us by Webinar, we will send a link a few days before the session along with the handouts for the day. If you have not joined us in the past for a Webinar, below is information regarding Elluminate which is the software we will use. Lunch and breaks will be on your own. You will be required to be on the program and participating throughout the day.

Please click on this link to verify that you can view the Webinar- http://support.blackboardcollaborate.com/ics/support/splash.asp. Click on Elluminate Live! under First Time Users
and then follow Step 1 and Step 2. Under Step 2 click on Configuration Room and the system will
launch the Elluminate window. Once you get to this point your computer is ready for the
Webinar. You can click on the “X” in the top right-hand corner to close out the window.
